STROKE Art Fair 2022.
Key Visual "Victoria" von Samy Halim (Frankreich)
Born in Algeria from an Algerian father and a French mother, trained at the Fine Arts School of Algiers, I moved to France in 1994 and refined my graphic arts skills on digital tools such as Photoshop & Illustrator. I worked as graphic designer and art director in Paris based studios and agencies for 15 years, before starting my own studio in 2011, specializing in illustration. With a strong appetite for a 20s-30s and 80s-90s inspired style, blend with a contemporary flair.
I work in digital and traditional.
I was trained as a classical artist and after graduating, I explored numerous techniques and styles. I eventually ended up with this one which combines hand drawn and digital rendering.
My work is colorful, strong and bold. Its polychrome and geometric style finds its inspiration in Art Deco and Memphis-Milano. I especially enjoy manipulating ultramarine color, gold foil, colored pencils texture and shapes. I constantly learn from other artists from various fields, like George Stavrinos, Patrick Nagel, Andy Warhol, Jack Hughes, René Gruau, Peter Sato, Tamara de Lempicka, Ichiro Tsuruta, Ludwig Holhwein, Tom Purvis, J.C. Leyendecker, Alfons Mucha.
I worked for consumer brands as Coca-Cola, P&G, Nespresso, Nestlé Waters, Evian, Danone, Ferrero, Lindt, Lutti ; alcohol & luxury spirits - Hennessy, Rémy Martin, Belvedere Vodka, Clément Rhum, SANEHA Gin, H.Theoria ; cosmetics - Coty, L'Oréal ; luxury and fashion -Dior, Jean-Paul Gautier, Paul Smith, Hilton ; entertainment - Ubisoft, Wizards of the Coast, Goliath ; football - PSG, FFF…
